MIKE BLOCH-LEVERMORE

Teaching philosophy in an entertaining and applicable way is what I love to do.

Mike offers philosophy courses independently and also as a part of 100-500hr teacher trainings hosted by other facilitators.

Aside from lecturing, Mike has also written two comprehensive manuals on Non-Dual Shaivism and Essential Yoga Philosophy and History.

PHILOSOPHY LECTURER

It Shouldn’t be Boring

It seems to me that yoga philosophy is one of the more challenging subjects for students to comprehend in trainings, as well as for the trainers to teach.

So for the last five years I’ve been working on producing courses and workshops that make complex philosophy something more easily graspable and inherently useful.

As an educator, I’ve recognised a great pedagogy to approaching complex subjects is through student interaction, humour and lots of props and notes. Often a shala will be covered in paper, projected cartoons and maybe some balloons after a day of teaching. And aside from aiding the mental comprehension of a subject, I also guide contemplative meditations to try to instil the profoundness of the teachings and recognise the reverence inherent in them.

Mike lives happily in the countryside of Midsjælland, Denmark with his wife, Helene and giant cat, Indie. He speaks fluent English and Danish.

He recently lived for two years in Portugal, and has taught philosophy courses in Sweden, the Philippines, Portugal and Denmark, and trained in Indonesia.

Outside of the shala, Mike has travelled extensively, working as an expedition leader in South America, China and Africa, a PADI Divemaster in S.E. Asia, and a snowboard instructor in Canada.

In Copenhagen he taught kayaking and later designed bespoke certificates in International Skills for a Danish business university.
